COCHIN 2 INDIA
Dear JIAGGJ,
The old town was Portuguese, then Dutch, then English and now Indian for 60 years. There are beautiful old buildings going to ruin, the whole town is very dirty with rubbish everywhere (in streets, trees, gutters, grassy areas - absolutly revolting!) Yet the women go around in spotless saris.
It was once a port for exporting spices grown on the hills above but there are many warehouse along the shore with English names that are now delelict.
We went to a Palace with beatiful paintings on the walls telling the story of Diwali - the festival of light. The lights were to welcome home the King`s son.
The snake charmer in the street had 2 cobras that came out of the basket when he played his pipe - it looked very easy but we didn`t get too close!
Love to you all and lots of xxxxxxxxxx

Dear Mum and Dad,
Having a bit of a mad week have to be in too many places at once, mainly as Alexander is doing his big show 4 evenings this week and twice during the day. Unfortunately Don won't be back in time as they start at 6.45 but I think I can only face three, I already know all the songs by heart. They are having professional photos done tonight so I will get you a copy. Took Abi and Cathy to Madcap theatre on Saturday to see a new play by Louise Roche. Very funny and same cast as the one we saw at Christmas. It was the follow up to the one we saw at MK Theatre. It was lovely to be with Abi as I've hardly seen her this year and she was so upset last week it was horrible that I was so far away and could only speak on the phone. Jo has been a big help keeping me company and with the children and even cooked them Sunday dinner once, her potatoes were as good as yours. She was hoping to come and see Alexander in his play but her Dad is coming to stay.
GOOD LUCK THIS WEEK DUNCAN
Love Becky
PS I will speak to Les, are you sure you want it on yet as you've still got a month to go?
We will be able to pick you up on the Saturday, what time will you be at Coachways, do you have a lot of luggage?
