OSAKA JAPAN

Dear JIAGGJ<
After another day of sight-seeing - Grandad is fading fast!
Osaka is a huge port and a large city of sky-scrapers. Kyoto is known as the "old city" but the special buildings are among the other blocks (some not very pretty) and not in a separate area as I imagined.
We visited a Golden Pavilion, (actually covered in gold) which was beautiful, surrounded by Japanese gardens - very peaceful aparet from a few thousand visitors. Then a Shogun Palace with painted walls, rice paper windows and "nightingale floors." These are made of wooden planks with special nails underneath so when they were walked on , they "sang". Very good for catching children out of bed at night!
Sayonara (good-bye)
Love you all lots and lots,
Grandi xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Comments:
Jo thank you for being so efficient with the Brighton flat - we obviously got the right person in charge.
Abi curtains will hang much better re-pleated.You have a lot going on.
I haven`t lost G yet but if he could have got himself back to the ship today, he would have gone!
Geogie congratulations on that certificate. I couldn`t do that (nor could Grandad!)
Rob it all sounds exciting, jetting here and there but we imagine it is hard work and nerve-wracking for you.
Dad is people spotting, so far he has seen Penny Turtill, the clamp, Sir Les Patterson and Himmler.
Don pleased your contract is still going, how were your parents?

Hi Mum and Dad,
Japan sounds very interesting, Dad hasn't seen Elvis by any chance?
Bit of a nightmare time with builders, they came, they saw, they talked and then they took to pieces the conservatory wall. Were here until 9.30pm when some more arrived, I ended up cooking them tea! Finally gave up at 10.30pm maybe me putting my nightie on gave them a hint. Now waiting for some point not specified in the future for them to return - wall still in pieces and not sure if leak even fixed...
Abi - are we still on for meeting up for a walk on Sunday? If so I need to cancel my swimming lessons at 2.30 and 3.00pm, but don't want to do that until I'm sure you're ok to meet up as I already cancelled them the week before to come and see you. Needless to say Isabella is counting the days until she sees Jenni and Linda, she is already composing another play for her!
Should hear today if Grace has a place at Loughton Manor First, it will be a relief to know for sure.
Swimming lessons later and Issy meeting up with Bel, tomorrow Linda is coming to cut all the childrens hair, so it will be hair pie for weeks!
Love to you both
xxxx Becky
ps Duncan could you email me details of where the play is so I can look into where Don can take the other two while we're watching it. Thanks

Hi Mum & Dad, Didn't understand the people spotting! (or am I just dense!).
Beck: Would love to see you - Walk 1'ish would suit us well - Anygood for you?? So pleased you keep cancelling plans on my behalf makes me feel really special!!
Dunc: Do you want me to post your RYA card & first aid certificate you left in my printer??
Back to Mum & Dad: Guess who bought a size 12 pair of jeans from M&S Today????? Admittedly they were stretch but I did say rather loudly as I came out of the fitting room 'I'll take the 12' - Haven't been able to do that since my 20's - Roll on 40!!!!!!!!
Lots of love to you all Abi XXXXXXX

Andy P: Still waiting with bated breath for your news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mum - wishing you were here as had to dye my own hair tonight - not an easy task - not sure where I got it & what it's going to look like but 15 mins time will tell. So you can imagine me sitting here with loo roll wrapped round my face so it doesn't run - nice! Just had 15 mins on the exercise bike sooooo close to my target 10 1/2 stone will report as soon as. Bit of an upset I think as I said Georgie didn't want to re-sign up for trampolining then a to-do at school this pm & G ended up with teeth marks in her hand (she was pulling the other girl so wasn't blameless) but thinks relations may have broken down on that front! After school had Shona & Isla for tea and then Julia came for a cuppa with Hannah & Lauren - ALL they all played Nicely - Hurrah! Jack almost (!) smiled at swimming - still likes the shower best. Love you all lots Abi XXX
DUNCS: Where are you????Bit worried as you didn't return my call & you've not blogged since the weekend we didn't give you food poisoning did we????? Abi XX

Dear Mum and Dad
Lovely sunny day today and my house is full of men! Only the man fixing the radiator, more men for the conservatory and car being serviced. Needs new front tyres at £75 each, New Years Resolution, keep away from kerbs and avoid pavements when parking..
Caroline has invited me plus Marie, Jackie and Karen for lunch and then Rachel, Matthew and Beth are coming for tea.
Abi - looking forward to seeing you at the weekend, sounds like you're coping extremely well. Don't worry about Dunc he's probably used up his quoto of conversation for the month!
What about meeting up at 2pm at Willen lake in front of the restaurant. Have a great time in London you both deserve a large night out.
Love Becky

Ha, ha, ha ha!!

All OK here, just busy, I can't spend all day on the computer typing on the blog!

Bec the show is in Wantage! There's a nivce park there apparently but not huge amounts else. Abingdon has a Snakes and Ladders which is a big kids warehouse, will keep asking to see what else there is locally.

M and D, I hear it's a bit chilly in Japan, loverly here, sunny and warm for the weekend.

Love you lots
Becky, Don, Isabella, Alexander and Grace
Dear mum and dad
Issy at Stagecoach this morning, thrilled as she has been chosen to had the lead role - Tracey Beaker in the Easter show, but loads of lines to learn.
Had an appointment to look at one of the flats in the mews but the estate agent called and said it had sold straight away, it was on for £238 (3 beds).
Took Issy to see Guys and Dolls which she absolutely loved although she was puzzled what a crap game was!
Don took Grace and Alex cycling to the tear drop lakes.
Lovely lunch at Carolines, 9 people from the close, went on all afternoon. She made lasagne and a cheesecake. Relieved to find out that Grace has a place at Loughton Manor first as not everyone got in.
Lots of love
Becky
