CAPE TOWN SOUTH AFRICA
Dear JIAGGJ,
Well Cape town looks beautiful with the city below Table Mountain (Table because it is so flat on top)
But we have been down among the Shanty towns where the poor black people live and it has been something to open your eyes. They are not as good as garden sheds and have no water or toilets. We spent this morning learning the history of this country from the time when black people and white people were made to live in different areas and it was against the law to mix.
This afternoon we went across to Robben Island on the ferry to where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years. (Your Dads can explain who he was)
Tonight we are on the Waterfront and there are a lot of people out and about.
In the Indian Ocean we saw dolphins and some whales. We have passed the Cape of Good Hope and are now in the Atlantic Ocean so we are heading for home.
It is very strange to be here on Easter Sunday - not a single egg!!
Love you all lots and lots,
Grandi xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Mum & Dad,
Still sounds a whirlwind even to the end of your tour - Bet you'll be glad to get home for the rest. We can't wait to see you now - roll on 2 weeks.
We've just had a great trip to Brighton - Got back at 11pm last night - Felt quite chaotic as we left with Bec & Don in situ so didn't feel confident we'd brought all our stuff home but at least we had everyone's shoes. Yes, we did do Church in Brighton & WHAT A MARATHON! - 1 3/4 hours!!!! Dad would have loved it!! The kids had an Easter Egg hunt whilst we had a V E R Y long & rambling sermon and we even had a baptism of Edgar from Zimbabwe as he missed his 5.30am slot. Jill & Dom came down for the day on Thurs & we did the Rottingdean Walk, Marina, Peter Pan Play Area & dinner at Tooties. Jo came down on Sat (got here by 10.15 - very keen!) & did Rottingdean Walk again but bus back from Marina as we had a 6pm slot for dinner at Pinnochio's - Got the window table & the girls loved watching all the people coming past dressed up for The Rocky Horror Show at the Theatre.
Beck & Don were down for lunchtime so we had a picnic in the Pavillion Gardens and a very slow meander to the Peter Pan Play area & The Marina - we spent most of the afternoon shouting at the children - Alexander managed to get over the hump onto the Nudist Beach when we weren't watching but said he didn't see anything - the girls were very quick to follow!
The weather was fantastic, bit of a chill wind on the front but very hot when the sun was on your face and it was sheltered.
Lots of love to you both & really looking forward to seeing you.
Lots of love Abi XXXXX

JO: Thanks for making the effort to come down to Brighton - The kids always love seeing you as you make things seem so much more fun - and they stand more chance of getting an ice cream!!!! They loved the jewellry they bought at the Sunday Market with you.
