Akureyri Iceland

Dear JIAGGJ,

What a surprise Iceland is!

We have had a lovely sunny day and left the small port to drive in the countryside to thermal baths heated by hotwater springs gushing up from underground. The open air natural baths were surrounded by beautiful scenery Although they smelt like bad eggs, the water is said to be very good for your skin so tonight I definitely feel more beautiful!
The volcanic hills are covered in green (not many trees) and there are a lot of wild flowers everywhere, It really is stunning.
As usual Grandad has gone back to the ship and I have found an interenet cafe.

Thank you Jenni for your note. We saw a riding school coming back from a hack and the children had net from their riding hats over their faces to keep out the midges which the area is known for (we killed several inside our coach!).
The rough night I mentioned was indeed rough and it was a very quiet ship at breakfast the next day. however by the next night it had calmed down.
The next 3 days we are sightseeing in different parts of Iceland.

Love you all,
Grandi xxxxx

Comments:
Sounds good - not what I expected either. Don't like the sound of egg on your face to make yourself beautiful and it wasn't nudey bathing was it - arghh!! Julia's Paul would be good on your ship with the seasickness as he nearly didn't make their Lee Evans concert after the Safari Park day as he was nearly sick on the way home after doing the 'Blackfly' ride with Rob. Mum: Just look forward don't look back...You'll be fine...Really pleased today as spoke to Lucy (Pete & Josh) & their almost through the adoption process and Josh should soon have a 6 year old sister - Fingers crossed, & knees & toes. (how lovely is that!). Maxine has also taken redumdancy without going for the other job they were dangling so very big change for her as well - fingers crossed their too..
Pretty unexciting in comparison with us. Sports morning tomorrow so hopefully it'll be a nice day.

Lots of love to all.

Have a nice holiday Duncs & look forward to seeing you at the BBQ - you're welcome to stay over (we'll squeeze you in somewhere).
